State Certification

The State of California requires by law that all persons who engage in the connection of electrical devices for electrical contractors to be certified with the State as a Electrician. As an apprentice enrolled in our program, you meet this requirement. Prior to completing the apprenticeship program, all of our students are required to apply for certification.

How to obtain certification?

  1. Talk with your Training Director. 
  2. Prior to the examination, you must apply and be approved by the DIR/DLSE. 
  3. Complete application and obtain supporting documents from the JATC. 
  4. Send application, documents and payment to the ECU. 
  5. Once approved, you will receive an eligibility notice. 
  6. Schedule and take examination with PSI.
